Overview of the Chinese Community Social Services Centre Inc. (CCSSCI):
The Centre was set up and registered as an incorporated body in 1992. With a humble beginning it started as a small community-based, ethno-specific agency with a part-time worker at a shared office.
More than two decades later, CCSSCI is the largest government-funded, not-for-profit aged care and welfare service provider for the Chinese-Victorian community. Today, the Centre employs more than 240 workers providing a wide range of services from 5 offices.
CCSSCI is a registered charity with the Australian Charities and Not-For-Profits Commission. Our aim is to help those socially and financially disadvantaged members from our community who are in needs.
We cater for the Chinese-speaking people from various countries of birth, including China, Vietnam, Hong Kong SAR, Malaysia, Indonesia, Cambodia, Taiwan, Singapore, East Timor, Burma, Macau, Laos, Thailand and India.
From the Board of Management to the staff and volunteers, we share the same cultural backgrounds and languages with the people we serve.
Based on 2011 ABS Census, the Chinese-speaking community was the largest culturally and linguistically diverse community in Victoria.
